Description Position Summary: Works under general supervision and performs technical duties in connection with art and sculpture preservation and installation of indoor and outdoor art. Projects may include, perform, coordinate, and manage the maintenance, restoration/conservation, documentation, and installation for a private art collection, as well as assist various staff with special projects.
Position Responsibilities: - Partner with department leads (Facilities Director, and Art Manager) to meet objectives
- Partner with team members as required
- Participate with the art leadership team to assess, plan, organize for the care of the collection in maintenance, conservation and restoration needs
- Assist in maintaining special finishes in the home.
- Have well documented protocols and maintain professional grade records
- Participate with professional contract support consultants regarding surveys and general collection care
- Perform, coordinate and manage cleaning of objects, such as paper, textiles, wood, metal, glass, stone, and furniture, using cleansers, solvents, soap solutions, and polishes
- Perform, coordinate and oversee aspects of indoor/outdoor maintenance and service consistent with the goal of achieving the highest aesthetic care and operational standards
- Install, arrange, assemble objects and paintings, ensuring the artifacts' safety, reporting their status and condition, and identifying and correcting any problems with the set-up
- Conduct frequent reviews of the physical surroundings to ensure quality issues are identified and reported to the appropriate department or are rectified (as applicable)
- Prepare artifacts for storage and shipping
- Build crates for objects and paintings for safe storage and shipping
- Photograph objects for documentation
- Keep Facilities Operations Manager and Horticulture Manager updated on progress of assigned projects and priorities when needed
- Adhere to all applicable OSHA safety regulations
Essential skills and experience: - College degree preferred. High school diploma required and 5+ years fulltime experience in related field
- Excellent knowledge of artwork, sculpture, art and sculpture maintenance, art documentation
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude
- Able to read blueprints and understand construction/operational specifications
- Experience with contractor and project management
- Experience with spray equipment, such as conventional, airless, HVLP and air brush
- Experience with heavy equipment, such as boom lift, scissor lift and rough terrain forklift
- Excellent knowledge of general office procedures; as well as intermediate knowledge smart phone and computer skills
- Excellent time management skills; ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects with available resources
- Keen attention to detail, honesty, adaptability, dependability, and a willingness to do hands-on work
- Ability to maintain a high level of strict confidentiality and professionalism
- Possess a valid drivers license with a good driving record
Valued but not required skills and experience: - Private estate/hotel/ hospitality/museum experience
